Mr Carl Herrick holds a “Thank you” evening at The Penthouse, Altenbrook
June 7th 2007: As a thank you to all the contractors and Blueberry Team that worked on this project, Carl thought it would be a nice idea to hold an open evening so the contractors and team could actually see the end product and also ‘brag’ to their wives and partners of how good a job they do!  Carl also stated that “this allows them to see their piece of the work as a completed entity, which many of them never get a chance to see”.

Small Business secures overwhelming judges and public vote at the Concept for Living Home and Garden Design Awards
June 5th 2007: Blueberry Homes swept the board at the weekend’s Design Awards hosted by the Home and Garden Show at Chester racecourse winning Best Luxury Development, Best Interior Design, Best Conversion and the all-important Overall Public Vote for its luxury penthouse conversion at Altenbrook, Harrop Road, Hale, Cheshire.

“We are extremely proud of our newest development which has certainly been our most challenging to date,” said Carl Herrick, the group’s Managing Director.  “We entered the Design Awards at the weekend not imagining that we would have such an amazing result – to secure the overall public vote was just incredible and makes this success even more special.”

Altenbrook was a new development in 2001, a new-build, mansion house-style constructed mimicking the previous 19th Century property.  The owner/developer offered the six apartments for sale, apartment six being the penthouse.  Unable to sell the penthouse, the owner sold the property partially finished to the Blueberry Homes Group in 2004.

The brief for this property was to upgrade the penthouse for re-sale at a higher value, improving upon the use of space and incorporating luxury fittings and finishings.  Work commenced end 2006 after protracted dialogue with the planners, structural engineers and architect.  Assembling a project team comprising architects, structural engineers and interior designers in addition to its own, experienced workforce, a complete internal re-design of the space led to six months intensive work and a quadrupling of the original conversion budget.

The resulting 4-bedroomed penthouse, released for sale this week, boasts some of the most spectacular luxury and hi-tech finishes seen in the region.  Critically, the indoor/outdoor lounge terrace offers stunning views across the Cheshire plains, a Castello island bath is the key feature in the spacious master bathroom, the state of the art kitchen boasts a Stove cooker and Gaggenau integrated appliances.  A soaring vaulted ceiling in the 30m² master bedroom is complemented by Orbit up and downlighters which are controlled by Evolution intelligent controls.  A Bose sound system is discretely present throughout together with HD large screen televisions – topped with a tile television for the ultimate pampering session in the Island Bath!

“Considering we are a small, local business we have worked with just about every trade imaginable and have had contractors and suppliers from all over the country working with us,” continued Herrick.  “We were keen to source as much of our materials as possible locally and the final design reflects our preference for high quality, high specification local product.”
